Day 81  20 January 2016  Woodstown NJ (41 miles)
Our road trip feels all but over. We're back in familiar territory with Midge's mom, Betty, in Woodstown NJ. Midge went to town with Betty and spent some time making arrangements for our trip to Costa Rica on 5 February. Ed got the car serviced by Toyota in Turnersville and had a haircut in Woodstown.

Day 82  21 January 2016  Woodstown NJ
In the morning we visited Betty's brother and Midge's uncle, Frank Davis, and his son, Chuck Davis. They brought out some old photos, including this one of Midge's great grandfather, Elwood Davis.
They also had a large pictorial Davis family tree prepared by Edith Mifflin. It took a while to figure out how it works. This is about 30% of it.
In the afternoon, we walked to the lake, partly frozen and hosting a flock of Canada geese.

Day 83  22 January 2016  Woodstown NJ to Brunswick ME (458 miles)
We were up at 7. Ed took a last photo of Betty and Midge, and were on the road by 8.45. Betty came out to wave goodbye.

The forecast is for snow tomorrow or late tonight, so we want to drive straight through to Brunswick before it hits. The New Jersey Turnpike had warning signs.
We passed a grey New York City at about 11AM.
Traffic remained light as we drove on the Wilbur Cross and Merritt Parkways.

We were in Maine just after 3PM. Where else do you see an LLBean Maine Hunting Shoe driving down the Interstate?

Day 84  23 January 2016  Mere Point ME (0 miles)
A second transcontinental road trip has ended. It's time to unpack and get ready for our trip to Costa Rica. It's also time to appreciate that winter has truly come to this part of the world.

.xXx.
